Junior Content Creator & Social Media Coordinator
Location:
Johannesburg, South Africa
Employment Type:
Full-Time
Experience Required:
1–2 Years
Position Summary
We’re looking for a smart, creative junior with 1–2 years of hands-on experience in social media management and content writing. This is an ideal role for someone who understands how to create engaging content, schedule posts, write clearly for different audiences, and help build a brand’s online presence.
You’ll work closely with a senior marketing lead but will be expected to run with day-to-day content tasks and bring your own ideas to the table. This isn’t a pure intern role — you’ve already written for a brand or managed social media before and can take ownership of your work.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Management
Assist in managing day-to-day posting across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
Schedule and publish posts using tools like Meta Business Suite, Buffer, or Later.
Monitor engagement and respond to messages and comments.
Help build monthly content calendars in line with campaign goals.
Content Writing
Write captions, blog posts, newsletters, and product descriptions.
Translate technical or business information into reader-friendly content.
Edit and proof content for clarity, tone, and grammar.
Assist with repurposing content across different channels (e.g., blog to LinkedIn post).
Creative Input & Support
Work with designers to brief visuals that support your content ideas.
Research trends, competitors, and hashtags to improve performance.
Propose new content ideas, formats, or series to test and grow engagement.
Help pull basic analytics to track what’s working and what’s not.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
1–2 years in a social media or content creation role (agency or brand side).
A writing portfolio or examples of past work (can include social posts, blogs, etc.).
Strong grasp of social media platforms, especially LinkedIn and Instagram.
Bonus: basic Canva or design tool experience for quick content tweaks.
Soft Skills
Solid writing and editing skills — grammar and tone matter to you.
Clear communicator who’s not afraid to ask questions.
Curious, organised, and always looking to improve.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
Team player who can also work independently when needed.
